Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can have guests stay in your apartment with you. However, due to the large number of guests that are coming and going, they are not able to participate in all the included community events. There is a maximum of one additional guest in a one-bedroom apartment, and two additional guests in a two-bedroom apartment.
Our members are all 55 and older. The majority of them are between 60-70. But besides age, what unifies them is a love of travel, an appreciation for different cultures, and an enjoyment that comes from connecting with other people. Approximately 30% of our community members are solo travelers. The exact demographics of each cohort varies.
Yes! In most of our destinations, you can bring a small pet (under 50 pounds). Our housing partners do charge a small surcharge (less than $100 per month) that varies from city to city. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
On average, a cohort has around 16 people, but this varies from group to group. At a minimum, a group will have 10 people. At the high end, a group may have 20-24 people.
We love solo travelers - and we do not penalize them. Each member pays the same fee - but discounts are available to those share apartments. If a solo traveler is open to sharing a two-bedroom apartment, we can try to match you with another solo traveler.
Not necessarily. In some cities, members may have apartments in the same building or cluster of buildings. But in all cities, members live in separate apartments within the same neighborhood. Specifically, everyone lives within a one-mile radius from each other. In some cases, members might have apartments in the same building as other members, but this is not always the case.
Yes! We are in the process of adding new cities. We'd love to hear from you which cities you're most interested in. Send us a note and tell us where we should expand to.
As the name implies, the "Experience Fee" includes the many features of the entire experience. Specifically, it includes:
- Upscale serviced apartment for 30 nights
- Local Community Manager to provide orientation, support, and local knowledge
- Once a week community lunch
- Once a week lecture from expert or walking tour or hands-on workshop
- Once a week happy hour, including two drinks
- At least one excursion per month
- Travel medical insurance
We have created a network of English speaking medical professional near each of our communities. Each of these medical facilities are approved by our travel medical insurance provider.
Every week, at least one community lunch is provided. Often, during excursions a meal may be included. Similarly, most cooking classes end with members eating their creations as part of a community meal.
Yes! When we say "55 and older" it's meant more as a guideline than a rule. Our experiences are optimized for people who are semi-retired or retired - they are not ideal for people who have a full time job and are trying to work remotely. Similarly, our members tend to appreciate the finer things in life and enjoy a balance of fun, educational workshops, and fitness activities.
Yes! You can book for one month now and if you are loving your experience you can extend for another month. The only caveat is that you may need to change apartments for the additional month, depending on availability.
Yes, due to the nature of the experience, members must be able to walk at least one mile on uneven surfaces and climb a flight of stairs. We offer experiences in historic cities and many of the buildings are not accessible to those with mobility restrictions.
While some 2-bedroom apartments in Europe may include two bathrooms, this is not guaranteed. Bathroom configurations vary depending on the location and the specific apartment. We recommend reviewing the specific details of the apartment you are booking or contacting our team for more information if this is a priority for your stay.
