Frequently Asked Questions
Spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) are the best times to visit Prague. During these months, the weather is mild, crowds are smaller, and the city is especially beautiful with blooming flowers or autumn foliage. These seasons provide the perfect atmosphere for exploring Prague’s historic streets and outdoor attractions. However, even the summer is a great time to visit as it is not as hot as places in southern Europe. Prague truly comes alive during the summer months! Bathed in the year's longest hours of sunshine, the city exudes a vibrant energy, with outdoor events and al fresco dining spilling onto its charming streets. You'll find Prague buzzing with excitement, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for sightseeing and soaking in the city's beauty.
Yes, Prague's attractions are highly suitable for older adults. Many iconic sites, such as Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square, are easily accessible. Additionally, guided tours and trams allow for comfortable exploration without extensive walking.
Prague’s public transportation system is excellent, offering trams, buses, and a metro that are reliable and easy to use. Seniors can purchase discounted transport passes, and many attractions are located near tram stops. Walking is also enjoyable in the city’s flat, cobblestone streets, but taxis and rideshares are readily available if needed.
Great areas for seniors to stay in Prague include Old Town (Staré Město) for its central location and proximity to major landmarks, and Malá Strana (Lesser Town) for its quieter, picturesque charm. Both areas are walkable, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and public transportation. Our groups stay in New Town because it offers the perfect blend of modern vibrancy and historical grandeur. Imagine stepping out onto wide, elegant boulevards lined with impressive architecture, stylish shops, lively cafes, and diverse restaurants, all within an easy stroll of the enchanting Old Town.
Prague offers a rich culinary experience with dishes like svíčková (marinated beef with creamy sauce), goulash (hearty stew), and koláče (sweet pastry). Don’t miss out on tasting traditional Czech dumplings and sampling the world-famous Czech beers.
Yes, Prague is one of the safest cities in Europe, with a low crime rate. The main precautions include being aware of pickpockets in tourist-heavy areas and ensuring you have local currency (Czech koruna) for smaller establishments. Public spaces and public transportation are well-lit and secure.
Absolutely! Seniors can enjoy relaxing day trips to nearby attractions like Karlštejn Castle, Kutná Hora (home to the Sedlec Ossuary), and Český Krumlov, a fairy-tale town with cobblestone streets and a historic castle. Transportation options, such as guided tours or trains, make these trips convenient and stress-free.
Alumni Experience in Prague
Everything exceeded my expectations. Prague is a safe and walkable city with great public transportation and beautiful pastel-colored buildings. There was more to see and do than I anticipated. It was easy to take day trips to nearby Czech cities like Kutna Hora, Cesky Krumlov and Bohemian Switzerland. As well as an easy train ride to Berlin for a long weekend. I liked the balance of having some group activities along with free time to explore on our own. I also appreciated that TGLA provided clean, quiet and safe apartments in a great location, so I wasn't guessing on the best place to stay. TGLA's target market is affluent, retired and physically active sophisticated travelers seeking a new travel adventure which is exactly what you provided.

Everyone seemed to mesh on day 1. Great group. I also think the small size of the group helped.
