Your Home in Vienna

Your Vienna home base sits in the heart of Mariahilf, the city’s lively 6th district — a neighborhood that feels unmistakably Viennese without the tourist bustle of the Inner City. All community members stay in the same building on Theobaldgasse, making it easy to connect from the moment you arrive. The legendary Naschmarkt— Vienna’s largest open-air market, with fresh produce, spices, cheeses, and street food — is a short stroll away, as are the Leopold Museum and the Museums Quartier cultural complex. The Mariahilfer Straße, Vienna’s most beloved shopping avenue, runs just to the north, lined with cafés perfect for a slow morning. More residential than its neighbors, Mariahilf is the kind of neighborhood you settle into rather than simply pass through — full of bookstore cafés, wine bars, and independent restaurants tucked into beautiful streets, all well-connected by multiple U-Bahn lines.

Almost everything Vienna offers is within walking distance of your apartment, but the city also boasts an excellent public transportation system, including trams, buses, and metro lines. Our Community Manager will guide you on how to navigate it with ease, just like a local.

Reviews & Reflections

Alumni Experience in Vienna

What’s it really like to spend a month living in Vienna with The Good Life Abroad?

Liked the balance of being independent while also having something of a support system. Liked having enough time so that we didn’t feel we had to fill every minute with activities. Our location was great and made it easy to ride public transport and shop. Liked the variety of experiences that Markus planned. Enjoyed activities that we planned on our own—Lippizaners, piano trio concert, several live theatre performances. I was actually glad not to be in the same building as a lot of others in the group, because we like to have more privacy and not feel like we always have to do things with others in the group.

The one month experience was essentially seamless, considering we were in a foreign country, navigating in German, and exploring on our own some of the time. We had visited Vienna once before and wanted to return for a more lengthy stay. We were most impressed with our Community Manager, Markus. He is personable, well-organized, and well-versed in Vienna and its many hidden attractions.

Having a local fixer makes travel extra special. Anyone can read other peoples travel blogs, but it was great to have a local contact who knows the location.

The overall experience was excellent. The community manager, Markus, organized activities that we could not have found or done on our own.
