Cancellation and Refund Policy
The below policies apply to bookings made on or after January 2, 2026. Bookings made before this date fall under our previous 2025 Cancellation & Refund Policy.
The amount of the Cancellation Fee is based on how far in advance from the start date of the trip you cancel your program. Deposits are non refundable and are saved as a credit in your account towards a future booking.
120 days or more: No fee, deposit converts to credit
119-110 days: 25% of full program fee
109-90 days: 50% of full program fee
Less than 90 days: 100% of full program fee/non-refundable
Due to the fact The Good Life Abroad is entering into legally binding apartment leases on behalf of its clients, this schedule is not flexible. We strongly encourage all participants to purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance in case they need to cancel their trip.
Final payment is due no later than 150 days before your scheduled arrival. If your balance remains unpaid 90 days prior to your start date, you will receive a notice informing you that your spot will be cancelled.
Change of Program Policy
Because we are entering legally binding apartment leases on behalf of our clients, cancellation fees apply to changes to start date or destination when made less than 120 days prior to the program start date. Changes made more than 120 days prior only incur a $50 change fee per participant.
120 days or more: $50 change fee per participant
119-110 days: $50 change fee per participant + 25% of full program fee
109-90 days: $50 change fee per participant + 50% of full program fee
Less than 90 days: no longer able to change programs/non-refundable
Insurance
The Good Life Abroad provides a blanket travel medical insurance policy that covers you during your experience with us. We refer to this as the “Base Plan”, and details can be found here.
In addition to the Base Plan, for an additional price you may purchase the “Voluntary Plan”. This provides additional benefits and the option to buy Cancel For Any Reason insurance, and an option for a Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion waiver. Details and pricing can be found here.
We strongly recommend participants purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance to protect their investment in case they are not able to participate in the program for any reason.
