Short Stays Deep Dive
Webinar with Andrew Motiwalla on 2-Week European Experiences
In this live webinar, founder Andrew Motiwalla pulls back the curtain on The Good Life Abroad’s newest program format: Short Stays—immersive two-week experiences in some of Europe’s most captivating cities.
Perfect for travelers who want cultural depth without the commitment of a month away, Short Stays offer flexibility, comfort, and the same strong sense of community that defines the TGLA experience.
Whether you’re looking to extend a Signature Program or create a standalone European getaway, this Deep Dive shares how it all works—and what makes these shorter immersions just as meaningful.
What Are Short Stays?
Each Short Stay is a 14-night program based in one of four destinations:
Participants stay in serviced apart-hotels, which blend the independence of an apartment with the convenience of hotel amenities—think front desk support, weekly cleaning, and built-in community spaces.
Just like the Signature Programs, every Short Stay includes:
A dedicated Community Manager to help you navigate the city, book events, and feel supported
Curated programming: Tuesday lunch clubs, Wednesday cultural activities, Thursday happy hours, plus a welcome party and farewell event
A cohort of like-minded travelers, all staying in the same building
Travel medical insurance and local wellness support
How It Differs from a Month-Long Stay
Short Stays follow the same community-first approach, but with some intentional differences:
All participants live in the same building, making it easier to connect quickly
Community spaces are prioritized to encourage informal gatherings after a day of exploring
Serviced apartments streamline logistics, so you can focus on discovery rather than home maintenance
The pace is slightly more condensed, but still built for reflection, connection, and cultural immersion
Andrew emphasizes that while the Signature Programs allow for a slower rhythm, the two-week stays are just as impactful—especially when paired with another city.
Creative Ways to Combine Programs
Many guests choose to combine a Short Stay with a Signature Program—for example:
A month in Lisbon followed by two weeks in Porto
A month in Paris and two weeks in Nice
Two Short Stays back-to-back in Edinburgh and London
This model allows travelers to explore entire regions while still maintaining the depth and comfort of the TGLA format. And if it’s your first time traveling with TGLA, combining two programs also unlocks an alumni discount on your second stay.
What Kind of Traveler Are Short Stays Built For?
Short Stays are ideal for:
Travelers with limited time who still crave meaningful, slow-style travel
First-time TGLA participants looking for a taste of the model
Alumni seeking a deeper dive into a region they love
Anyone who wants community, support, and curated experiences—without a tour group or rigid schedule
And like all TGLA programs, they’re structured for independent adults who value flexibility and connection. The average age is around 68, with a welcoming mix of solo travelers and couples.
